Monsters by AHeartDisease

  • Chief In'Kannon Solitary, Large, Organized, Intelligent, Cautious, Hoarder
Cannon Shot (d10+2 damage 1 piercing) 16 HP 4 armor
    Reach, Far

The leader of the Black Powder clan of goblins. He is a large, horrible creature- possibly stuck in whatever small, snaking underground cave system they have infested. His bulky form is made more intimidating by the large wooden shields grafted onto his torso, and the cannon-sized firearm built into his stomach. He carries a short sword in every hand because firing his cannon will knock him back if he's on his feet. Instinct: To rule over the BP clan and hoard treasures.

    • Command the Black Powder Golbins
    • The rest of the Black Powder Goblins will defend him.

  • Kamikaze Keg Goblin Solitary, Small, Devious, Intelligent
    Explosion (d8+4 damage) 4 HP 0 armor
    Close, Forceful

Easily the most grotesque of the Black Powder goblins, these nasty creatures seemingly have a death wish, but they certainly won't go alone. They have consumed a massive amount of black powder that has caused them to swell and bloat; with their small, lumbering forms they charge intruders and set themselves on fire with magic, exploding shortly and violently. Instinct: To explode and injure

    • Explode
    • Charges intruders and explodes.
    • If killed, will still detonate.

  • Shot-gut Goblin Group, Small, Organized, Intelligent, Hoarder
    Scattershot (d8 damage 2 piercing) 6 HP 2 armor
    Close, Reach
    Special Qualities: Messy attack

A slightly larger type of goblin, these have managed to get shotguns or scatter-guns grafted into their bodies, which they use to shoot any invaders that approach too near the blockades, or surprising them out of blind corners. Instinct: To defend its home and valuables

    • Charge invaders
    • Gunfire attracts more goblins

  • Flintlock Goblins Horde, Small, Organized, Intelligent, Hoarder
Flintlock pistol (d6 damage 2 piercing) 3 HP 1 armor
    Close, Far

Small, nasty, brutish goblinoids that have somehow stolen and adopted gun technology, these small creatures replace limbs with the firearms (typically pistols) or graft them onto their bodies in grotesque rituals using primitive "surgery" and black magic. They prefer to hide in small, winding caves that let them blockade and fire from a distance to keep would-be invaders at bay. Instinct: To defend their home and valuables

    • Fire from range
    • Their gunfire will attract others

  • Ban-He Spirits Horde, Small, Divine, Magical, Devious, Organized, Planar, Amorphous
Negative energy (d4 damage) 4 HP 1 armor
    Hand, Ignores Armor
    Special Qualities: Ghost, Undead

The restless spirits of the undead called forward by a Ban-He have a singular goal - To drain the life-force from any living nearby. The negative energy inflicted on the living as they pass through them drains them, sapping their strength if they are powerful, their speed if they are agile, their mental fortitude if they are mentally tough; whatever you are best at, they aim to leech it out of you. Instinct: To drain the living

    • Passes through the living
    • Fly
    • Deals little damage, but repeated drains debilitate best stat

  • Ban-He Solitary, Divine, Magical, Organized, Intelligent, Cautious, Terrifying
Cursed sword (b[2d10] damage) 22 HP 4 armor
    Close
    Special Qualities: Undead

Banshee is such a gender specific term. Male undead can still become banshees, though they prefer the term Ban-He. Typically cursed soldiers, they wear their armor, shield, and weapon in death. They typically haunt graveyards or old battlefields, wherever restless spirits gather. Often mistaken as a mourning soldier until too late, the Ban-He can let out a terrible scream that calls spirits to aid him, his gaze paralyzing those not mentally strong enough to resist the fear. Instinct: To haunt the living

    • Can fire a blast of three d4 bolts of negative energy
    • Locks eyes with a target holding them in place
    • Lets out an otherworldly scream that calls out restless spirits (2d8)

  • The Wanderer Solitary, Magical, Divine, Intelligent, Cautious, Hoarder
A Bo Staff adorned in various fetishes and trinkets (d10+2 damage 2 piercing) 28 HP 5 armor
    Close, Near

Little is known about The Wanderer beyond his status as a legend or fable. They say that only those with an influence on Fate will ever happen upon The Wanderer's path. The first time you speak to him, he is said to dispense knowledge and advice. Should you happen upon his path a second time, legend says he will give you any number of the powerful baubles and trinkets from his pack or his mighty staff. If you were to ever see him a third time, he'll give you a wish, but like in many fables, it will come at a great cost. You don't find The Wanderer a fourth time. He and Fate find you. Instinct: To wander as a messenger of Fate

    • Wanders aimlessly
    • Teleports rapidly
    • Can attack multiple targets at once, either with an expanding staff or quick teleportation

  • Friends-In-The-Dark Group, Stealthy, Magical, Devious, Intelligent, Planar
    Claws (d6+2 damage 1 piercing) 6 HP 2 armor
    Close

You and your party members, Hawke and Brianne, enter the next room in the temple but it is clouded by darkness. Like a thick fog, the light of your torch nor Brianne's glowing shield can pierce it; you yell to your friends to be careful, but you can't hear them. It's eerily quite in here. You brandish your sword wildly in front of you, as you take shuffling footsteps across the stone. Something else is moving in here. Something fast. You could swear you heard it behind you, but as you turn you feel long claws rake across your arm. As you spin you bump into Hawke, he grunts and tells you to be careful. Another several claws dig into your leg from the side. You yell at Hawke that they are right in front of you and you swing wildly, connecting with something, and it falls heavily. "I heard that, you killed one. What are they?" Hawke asks in your ear from behind. As you stoop over and pull the body upright, less then a few inches from your face, you see that this is Hawke, with a massive sword wound in his head and claw marks on his cheek. Whoever is behind you isn't Hawke. Instinct: Lure, deceive, and kill travelers

    • Can mimic voices
    • Their corrupted bodies release a thick, magical darkness that fills rooms
    • They can see in any darkness
